A way to create social change

One beneficiary of the Chancellor’s Greatest Needs fund is the UCLA Volunteer Center, which has provided Bruins with opportunities to create social change through volunteering and civic engagement.

In a short time, Volunteer Center has become instrumental in growing UCLA’s presence in the community. It is best known for organizing Volunteer Day, which has doubled in size and impact since its inception and become a rite of passage for incoming students.

Since its launch in 2009, with initial support from the Chancellor’s Greatest Needs fund, the UCLA Volunteer Center has expanded to organize more than 17 unique annual programs and events that involve the greater Bruin community in civic engagement.

Outside of Volunteer Day, the Volunteer Center coordinates community service opportunities for hundreds of Bruins quarterly.

The Volunteer Center welcomes all members of the Bruin family – students, staff, faculty, alumni and friends – to participate in its events and programs.
