Sustaining UCLA

"I’m confident that, working together, we can ensure that UCLA continues to be an amazing place, setting the bar for public research universities everywhere. As always, I am deeply grateful for all that you do on the University’s behalf."
—Chancellor Gene Block, 2010

What is the UCLA Fund?

The UCLA Fund connects alumni, parents, students, and friends, helping them support our University through fundraising, volunteer work, and stewardship. We help secure UCLA’s future by providing resources to sustain the University's extraordinary success in academics, research, and community service.

Why Isn't State Funding Enough?

Though only a small portion of UCLA's total operating expenses are provided by the state, the majority of those funds are restricted for use in UCLA's core educational mission—undergraduate education. When the state reduces its support for the University, students are the first to feel the impact in reduced course offerings, larger class sizes, and fewer professors.

The UCLA Fund provides unrestricted funding to a variety of areas on campus, acting as an insurance policy for the programs, departments, and people who need it most. Because state support will likely be reduced even more dramatically in coming years, this safety net is vital to maintaining the University's excellence.

How Can I Help?

Every gift—no matter the size—makes a big difference for UCLA students. When you give to the UCLA Fund, your contributions support scholarships and fellowships, student programming, recruiting and retaining faculty, paradigm-shifting research, and much more. Without your assistance, UCLA simply wouldn't be UCLA.

Many of our supporters don't just give money—they devote their time and talent to improving the University. A robust network of volunteers take part in campus initiatives, represent UCLA in their communities, advocate for the University, and more.
