Cabinet Chair Welcome Message

Dear Alumni, Students, Parents, and Friends,

As a longtime member of the Chancellor’s Associates and the Chancellor’s Cabinet—as well as one-time Chair of the UCLA Fund—I am truly honored to serve now as the Chair of the UCLA Fund Chancellor’s Cabinet.

Few people know that I am actually a second generation Bruin. Because of this, I feel I have lived with UCLA my entire life. My father studied and ran track at UCLA in the 1940’s when there were only a few African Americans on campus. It was such a monumental experience for him to be here at that time, and for our family as well, that the greatness of UCLA became infused in all of us.

We all share a passion for UCLA. Our greatest challenge now, I believe, is communicating that passion and engaging others to support our university. Past relationships need to be rekindled and we must also develop new relationships so UCLA can remain strong well into the future.

And, as we all know, the downturn in our economy has become another one of our challenges. However, I must say how proud I am that even in these unsure times that members of the Chancellor’s Cabinet continue to so strongly support UCLA.

It’s clear that we all understand the importance of the UCLA Fund and it’s simply our duty to educate others of its importance. Because the UCLA Fund addresses the highest of all campus needs and opens us up for even more opportunities, we help sustain UCLA and build upon that foundation for the future.

Go Bruins!

Best,
